New Ground

Ok, I usually never do this, but I can’t stand by without a reaction.

In following up on the Aaron Paschall Rape Allegations, I have been trying to get a comment from the theater company that recently hired him to be a cast member in their production.   I sent a direct email to the company, I also sent one to the music director.  Neither of them have bothered to answer me or even acknowledge my email.

Now I understand that people don’t have to talk if they don’t want to.  I understand that this is a difficult situation and they may be reluctant to acknowledge my questioning if it reflects badly on their company.  However, do these people realize that by stonewalling me they are potentially protecting a rapist?

Paschall met his alleged victim through his work with another theater company (a company he was apparently fired from mid-show and barred from even attending another performance).  If you were running a company, wouldn’t you want to know everything possible about the history of your actors so you can protect others?

There have been no convictions regarding this case, that is true.  But given the police believed the victim’s story and only passed on the case for lack of enough evidence to sway a jury, maybe you should be watching out for the people you employ.

Somewhere in the world, I can only predict there’s a defense lawyer who’s gonna get rich off this company someday.

Stonewalled

Send a few email asking why a company hired a rapist and suddenly nobody wants to talk to you.

In the past couple of days, I’m sent out three or four email to various people involved in a certain theatre company, asking a few basic question about their hiring of an alleged rapist.  Specifically, I was asking if they knew about the allegations and what precautions (if any) they had in place for their other actors.

I have received nothing in return, not even an acknowledgement of email.  This isn’t surprising, people often stonewall and go silent when they don’t want to go on the record (welcome to the life of a journalist.  My professors warned me about it).  I’ll keep updating as possible, but there isn’t much to report at the moment.

Anyone with an update, email me at videxreis@hushmail dot com.

Maybe it’s a Rocky Mountain Thing

An Adams County Sherriff Deputy has been arrested under charges of raping his estranged wife.

Deputy Jason Belmont, on the force since 2004 is currently under arrest on suspicion of raping and borderline kidnapping his estranged wife.  After arriving at her house to pick up mail give her some cash, he went upstairs to repair a toilet while the victim laid down.

After he finished the repairs, this paragon of virtue was overcome with the beauty of his sleeping victim.  So like Zeus in antiquity, he carried her off to a bedroom where he tried to initiate sex.  When the victim refused and tried to turn on a tape recorder, he got mad.

“If I’m going down for this, I’m going to fuck the shit out of you” he said as he raped her twice before stealing all her clothing and locking her in the bedroom.

This case is interesting to me as it’s Adams County, Colorado, the same location as the Aaron Paschall Rape Case that saw only the slightest hint of police investigation before ultimately dumping the case without so much as bringing in the suspect who was named in the original report.

Maybe we need a review of all Adams County (and all cities within) sexual assault cases so we can see exactly how much corruption exists in the world of Colorado policing.  Meanwhile, Deputy Piece of Shit will be back in court on June 10th.  Lets hope he ends up where he belongs:  Jail.

Rape Culture in Action

Westminster Police Department Lets Accused Rapist Walk Without So Much As An Interrogation Because Convictions Are Hard.

I’m back to update you on the story of Aaron Paschall: Actor, Director, Alleged Rapist.

After a long wait, I finally got a copy of the police report. I am not sure how much I can say, as Colorado has some strong anti-dissemination laws and I’m waiting on a reply from the police to clarify what I can legally disclose. However, here are the main points about this report:

  • Mr. Paschall was accused of sexually assaulting a young lady at his apartment,’
  • The police asked him a few questions, but never arrested or interrogated him before he was able to hire a lawyer.
  • Despite some pretty convincing circumstantial evidence, including his writing the entire incident up as “erotic fiction,” which still survives online to this day, the police never seemed interested in pursuing a clear rape charge. (I won’t link his story, but suffice to say it reads like the manifesto of a rapist who is convinced his victim wanted it).
  • Upon even the most basic of questions, Paschall, through his lawyer, invoked his right to silence and the police never seemed to go any further.
  • Despite the report coming in the fall of 2013, the police report was finalized (and the case brought before the DA) in early 2014, without so much as one attempt to bring him to the station for questions.

That’s the bigger issue to me. Aaron Paschall is, in my opinion, a rapist, a liar, a danger to the world and a flaming piece of shit, but the lack of police action here is the bigger problem. This is the worst police work since Tallahassee Police decided to let Winston off with a stern warning.

The entire tone of this report screams of a department that didn’t really care about the victim. They insist that she said the sexual contact was consensual (then why is she filing a rape report?) and they didn’t even try to get this monster put away.  I guess the police are too busy locking up consensual drug users to go after non-consensual sex offenders.

Now, if Aaron Paschall was a black guy, I would bet my last Euro that he’d be lingering away in jail right now (as well he should be). Unfortunately for his victim, he is the epitome of the privileged, white, male, middle-class and he gets away with his actions without so much as the inconvenience of a single trip to the police station.

Fun fact, Paschall is appearing in a production opening this weekend. I’m sure he’ll enjoy his time on stage…. And don’t worry Westminster Police, I’m sure he’s learned his lesson and won’t ever rape again.
